Ava DuVernay born August 24 72 years old at Long Beach in CA. DuVernay was able to explore her artistic and creative side when she was a young girl due to her aunt Denise. DuVernay would use the summers she spent in Alabama to inspire her film Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay obtained her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. She went to the University of California Los Angeles to obtain degrees in English and African American Studies. DuVernay began producing for the broadcast industry while she was in her the college. She started as an intern for CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being assigned to observe the house of a member of the jury as well as look through their trash. Her work left her dissatisfied in journalism, so she made the decision to go into the field of publicity. DuVernay was hired straight out of college as a junior publicist at an unassuming studio.
