From the age of 5 years old, Linda Blair had to get used to public attention. First, as a child model, and eventually as an actor, among 600 applicants, she was selected for the part of Regan, the possessed child who is the protagonist on the set of The Exorcist. Linda rapidly gained world fame and won the Golden Globe, and seemed likely to receive her place in the Academy Award for that role, but when it leaked that certain parts of the role were not performed by her (the evil voice was created through Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds from a stunt dummy utilized) the dream was shattered in disappointment, which was probably the initial blow that could have been the beginning of an A-list profession. Through the years she was able to secure the lead roles in a range of film, which included the wildly successful television series Born Innocent However, when she was pressured by peers to purchasing cocaine by the age of 18 it led to an arrest and subsequent sentencing to three years of probation. Linda's career in Hollywood was ruined through the drug bust which became widely publicized. She is currently only appearing occasionally on TV as well as B-movies.
